11x14 Frame
If you have a picture for an 11x14 frame, then you have a large number of options available
for types, styles, and colors. Displaying these can be more impactful than, say, 5x7 picture
frames.
For example, though there are many kinds of materials of which there are four main types:
glass, plastic, metal, and wood.
Glass is a very modern type of 11x14 frame which also gives a very elegant while
simplistic appearance. Though there are some clear plastic alternatives that are typically less expensive, if
you are giving a photo as a gift or if you are trying to add something truly special to your décor then you will
likely want to opt for the slightly more expensive glass, instead.
Metal types come in all sizes from smaller than 5x7 picture frames, to an 11x14 frame and up. These are
very sturdy and attractive. They can be wrought iron, or silver plate. They can be a sleek pewter,
or an aged copper. They may look brand new or they could be antiqued to give an aged appearance.
Just like jewelry and other pieces of art, many metals are used to create these appealing accents. Furthermore,
they provide a great deal of protection to the photo they contain because they are not easily broken if they are
knocked off a surface.
On the other hand, if you are looking for a long lasting frame that is attractive
enough, but more casual, then you may choose plastic 11x14 frames instead. They can imitate other
materials such as wood or even metal and they come in every color you can imagine. They also come in many
patterns and shapes in case you’re looking for an alternative way to enhance your photographs. Furthermore,
plastic is often less expensive than other materials, meaning that they are budget friendly and that you can use
more of your pictures in your decorating without spending as much money.
11x14 Frame - Wood Is More Common
The most common type of 11x14 frame for home décor is wood. These come in three
different types, which are: solid wood, composite, and wood veneer. Solid wood simply refers to one that is
made entirely of wood. Naturally, any wood frame looks great, whether you're talking about 5x7 picture
frames, 4x6 picture frames, or larger.
In any event, solid wood frames are quite rare since the materials are costly, but it
is possible to obtain them if you are willing to pay a little bit more. For a similar appearance but at a
significantly lower price (and much greater availability), composite wood compresses and glues together wood pieces
to create the final appearance. It is the most common form of wooden frame – especially in terms of the
decorated varieties.
If you’d like to have the same look as a solid wood type without the price tag or treasure
hunt, then you should try to find a wood veneer frame instead. It looks just like solid wood without actually
using it. Instead, a very thin piece of high quality wood is glued to the outside of composite wood to give
the appearance that it is solid all the way through.
